PARENT'S CODE OF CONDUCT!
Before the Game:
Extra Thoughts:
There are times that an umpire makes a bad call, or even a lot of bad calls. We have seen umpires repeatedly forget the strike zone, or completely butcher a routine play. We are in touch with the crew chief, and we are doing our best to keep the games organized. Removing umpires would cause tremendous issues at many games, and every crew uses the same umpires.
Sometimes a coach will make a bad decision also. He might put a weak player in the wrong spot in the field, or allow him to bat cleanup. It could be he has a reason for this, or it could be an oversight. He's volunteering his time.
Yes, even a child can make a mistake. They might run when they shouldn’t, swing on ball four, or drop a simple popup. One boy instead of stepping on third, threw to first and lost the game for his team. It’s a game. If we scream and yell, they won’t want to play. Please help us give your children a great experience!
- Make a commitment to act maturely and responsible in action and language no matter what others parents may do.
- Tell your children before each game that you are proud of them regardless of how well they play.
- Optional: Offer the coach to bring snacks or drinks for both teams.
- Don’t yell instructions during the game. Let the coaches coach.
- Cheer good plays by both teams.
- If an umpire makes a “bad” call against your team, Honor the Game — be silent!
- Stay at least 10 feet back from gameplay & never touch a player for any reason (unless it's an emergency).
- Don’t do anything in the heat of the moment that you will regret after the game. Ask yourself, “Will this embarrass my child or the team?”
- If you have a question for the coach, ask him quietly and when he's not busy.
- Don't communicate with the umpires.
- Remember to have fun! Enjoy the game.
- Encourage the boys to line up to thank their opponents.
- Thank the umpires for doing a difficult job.
- Thank the coaches for their commitment and effort. We assure you, it's a lot of work!
- Clean up after yourselves.
- Remind your children again that you are proud of them — win or lose.
